Briana Jones-Gill is a graduating fourth-year broadcast journalism scholar at Florida
Agricultural and Mechanical University. A dynamic storyteller and creative, Briana has built a
strong foundation across broadcast, print, and digital media, with a passion for producing
impactful, culturally relevant content that informs, engages, and inspires.
During her time at FAMU, Briana has grown within Journey Magazine, where she began as a
staff writer, advanced to copy editor, and now serves as Creative Director. In this role, she
has fully creative directed two print issues, as well as short film concepts and multiple
promotional campaigns, leading the visual and editorial direction from concept to execution. As
the driving force behind these campaigns, she has shaped the magazine’s storytelling approach
through innovative design, branding, and multimedia content.
Briana’s broadcast experience includes serving as the lead desk anchor for FAMU TV-20
News at 5, where she delivers news with professionalism, clarity, and on-camera confidence. In
this role, she has strengthened her skills in live reporting, teleprompter delivery, and newsroom
collaboration. She has also served as an on-air personality for 90.5 The Flava Station,
FAMU’s campus radio station, connecting with audiences through engaging and thoughtful
commentary. Additionally, she is a longtime host of the award-winning podcast Millennials in
Motion, which she has been a part of since her freshman year, helping grow it into one of the
top student-run podcasts in Florida.
Expanding her storytelling into investigative and long-form content, Briana independently
produced her documentary Vanished, which explores the case of Lori Paige and highlights
disparities in media coverage surrounding missing Black girls. The project reflects her
commitment to using journalism as a tool to amplify underrepresented voices and uncover
overlooked truths.
Professionally, Briana completed two summer internships with NBC DFW (KXAS) as an Emma
Bowen Foundation Fellow. During her time there, she contributed to live show production,
scriptwriting, and rundown formatting, while actively participating in editorial meetings and story
selection. She also produced original five-minute segments titled The Connection, which aired
between scheduled programming, demonstrating her ability to independently develop and
execute broadcast content.
In addition to her journalism experience, Briana has built a strong background in marketing and
entertainment publicity. She has served as a Warner Bros. Publicity Ambassador, where she
worked on campaigns for films including The Bride, The Conjuring Last Rites, One Battle
After Another, Wuthering Heights, The Mummy, and Sinners, executing creative activations,
pop-up experiences, and influencer collaborations to drive audience engagement. As a Starry
Ambassador with PepsiCo, she developed hands-on experience in brand marketing, advertising
strategy, and campus engagement.
On campus, Briana has also contributed as a content creator for The Famuan newspaper and
served as Treasurer for the National Association of Black Journalists FAMU chapter. She
is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she has chaired and
hosted impactful events, further strengthening her leadership, service, and commitment to
sisterhood.
Originally from Dallas, Briana brings a bold, creative perspective to every project she
undertakes. Looking ahead, she aspires to build a career at the intersection of journalism, film,
and entertainment, creating compelling stories for television and digital platforms while also
developing original film and documentary projects. She aims to use media as a tool to amplify
underrepresented voices, shape cultural conversations, and redefine how stories about Black
communities are told and experienced.
